As you all know, Hindi is one of the widely spoken languages. In this age of globalisation when India is emerging a major world economic power, learning of Hindi is indeed good.

Hindi is becoming more popular as it would be ideal for anyone dealing with an Indian establishment to be well versed with the prevailing language and culture in India. Following instances support the above conclusions.

Korean students learn Hindi for emerging global opportunities in India

Students from Pusan University foreign studies department have come to Delhi University last month to learn Hindi, English and cultural trends to explore opportunities in Indian markets in future.

The group of 14 Korean students including ten girls and four boys, completed their one month long course under the Memorandum of Understanding between Pusan University and Motilal Nehru College (MLNC) of Delhi University.

The students also expressed their views about this exchange program. They said in order to work in Korean and Indian establishments it would be ideal to be well versed with the prevailing culture.

A Hindi curriculum for several Trinidad schools

Hindi is getting a fillip in Trinidad and Tobago, where around 23 per cent of the million population is of Indian extraction but only about five per cent of them speak the language fluently.

The Indian high commission is conducting 18 Hindi classes in various parts of the country and well over 200 students are learning Hindi there. The high commission has also agreed to provide one of its Hindi teachers to conduct Hindi lessons in the schools from the next academic year.

The contribution of some other local organisations in teaching the Hindi language is also noteworthy. Trinidad and Tobago’s Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha (SDMS), a major Hindu organisation, has announced that his organisation has developed a Hindi curriculum to be used in its 60 primary and secondary institutions.

SDMS would put all its resources into enhancing the teaching of Hindi. In its 175 ‘mandirs’ or temples scattered across the country, Hindi is used in all its prayers with interpretations.

The growing economic, political and cultural relations of world community with India are attracting the world populace towards this fascinating language. Indians and the Indian diaspora are also playing a pivotal role in promoting Hindi in practically every part of the world.
