Slumdog Millionare At Oscar Awards

“Slumdog Millionaire” took the best-picture Academy Award and seven other Oscars on Sunday, including director for Danny Boyle, whose ghetto-to-glory story paralleled the film’s unlikely rise to Hollywood’s summit.
A story of hope amid squalor in Mumbai, India, “Slumdog Millionaire” came in with 10 nominations, its eight wins including adapted screenplay, cinematography, editing and both music Oscars (score and song).

Grammy Awards: Zakir Hussain again wins one, Robert Plant wins five
Indian tabla maestro Zakir Hussain is one of the four international musicians to be awarded Grammy for their -Global Drum’ project. Hussain, along with musicians Mickey Hart, Sikiru Adepoju and Giovanni Hidalgo, has been awarded the coveted gramophone for -The Global Drum’ in the Best Contemporary World Music Album category.

A R Rahman wins BAFTA award
ndian music composer A R Rahman won the BAFTA award in the Best Music Score category for Slumdog Millionaire on Sunday evening in London. Rahman’s winning streak continues. After scooping the Golden Globe in January, the music wizard has now bagged the award which is considered the British Oscars.
